October 12

We were up late last night (Daisy til 9:30, Caleb til 10, Chris and I til nearly midnight), and we had a full day planned today. But apparently the lack of sleep made somebody grouchy...
At breakfast this morning, Daisy stole two bites of Caleb's custard, then picked up his bowl and dumped the remainder on the floor.
On our way home from the grocery store, Daisy scratched Caleb and pestered him until he was screaming, crying, and shaking with frustration.

Those were the highlights, but it continued on like that for much of the day: Daisy provoking Caleb, and Caleb totally overreacting.

A co-worker of Chris' invited our family out to his farm for lunch. Lovely, right?
Problem: farm is 90 minutes away, children are insane, the lunch begins at noon, which is naptime.
*sigh*

So to prevent problems, we stuffed Caleb and Daisy full of food here.
Then we switched Lily into Daisy's car seat, and Daisy into Lily's, so that now Lily is a human buffer between Caleb and Daisy.
Then we prayed that the children would nap in the car.

Caleb did for about 45 minutes, but Daisy didn't at all. So the nap thing didn't work out, but the feeding them and car seat switcheroo did - we didn't hear a peep out of either Caleb or Daisy the whole car ride.

Then we spent a lovely afternoon romping outside, eating delicious food. Sadly, these were the only pictures I took:
Caleb and Daisy had their own little table and chairs, and a sweet little lunch prepared just for them.

Lily lounged happily in the shade until it was time for her to eat. Then she slept peacefully in the Ergo. She is such a good baby!

We stayed for three hours, and when we left at 4:00, Daisy was asleep within 5 minutes. No fussing on the way home at all!

Let's just hope that the big kids are back to normal tomorrow - we've had a few rough days in a row, and this mama can't take much more!
