Caleb was a skeleton for Halloween.

I probably should have chosen a photo that shows his costume better, but this one just melts my heart. After I finished taking approximately eight million photos of him, all he wanted to do was snuggle on Daddy's shoulder.

One of Chris' co-workers put together a little Halloween giftbag for Caleb today (thanks, Karen!). It contained lots of candy and a cute little pair of Halloween socks. We let Caleb play with the candy - doesn't it look like he's carefully weighing his options? Luckily, he's still working on object permanance, so he didn't care when we took all of the candy away and ate it once he was in bed.

Usually Chris does bath time, but I got to do it tonight.
There's something about a baby fresh out of the bath that just melts my heart.

I love his chubby little hands. Please note his neatly trimmed nails. After several heartbreaking experiences, I think I have finally mastered the fingernail clipping. Caleb appreciates my newfound skill.

Caleb has decided that his hands taste so good, he has to share the wealth. Here he is introducing Daddy to the yumminess of his hands. Chris seems to be enjoying it.

While I was eating my lunch, Caleb got a little sideways in his swing. He was so proud of himself!

Who can resist a naked baby? Caleb spent a while hanging out in the nude today, and he seemed to really enjoy himself. Is this photo adorable? Absolutely. Will he hate me for it in 12 years? Probably. Is it worth it? Definitely. Sorry, sweetheart.

Daddy took care of Caleb this morning while I administered the ACT. I came home from my hard work to find this - Chris brushing his baby's hair. How sweet.

October 23, 2009 - Take 2

I know I already posted my photo of the day, but I just got this one and couldn't resist. Can you blame me?

This one was taken at bedtime, while he was still soft and dewey after his bath. He just discovered his fingers this week, so the thumb-sucking is new and thus absolutely adorable.

There - now I'm caught up with the photos I want to post. In this one, he's just sitting in his crib. He rarely hangs out there, but he seems pretty content!

Caleb LOVES this rattle. Right now his major focus is getting everything he can into his mouth, but the rattle is slightly oval-shaped, making it difficult to chew on. He doesn't seem to mind, though. He can spend 15 minutes contentedly shaking and chewing on this little wonder.

This is how Caleb wakes up:

We walk into his dark room to find him wide awake, making happy gurgling noises.

He realizes it's Mommy (or Daddy) and breaks into a bright smile.

We unswaddle him and he gives a BIIIG stretch.

Then he chills out for a moment while we turn off the sound machine, turn off the fan, and open the curtains.

I wish I had started this project sooner - like right when Caleb was born - but it's a little bit late for that now. Instead, I'll begin with Caleb at 14 and a half weeks old. Better late than never, right?
We spend most mornings in Caleb's room, where he lays on a blanket made by my great-grandmother and plays. In the background of this photo, you can see his current obsession: a little mirror that's shaped like an easel. He loves to look at this and play with the little butterfly that dangles from it. Unfortunately, the base isn't very sturdy, so he sometimes pulls it over and bonks himself on the head when I'm not paying attention. Oops.
