After church today, both kids went down for a nap and I headed out to do the grocery shopping. When they woke up, Chris decided to take advantage of this beautiful mid-October weather and head to the park. Luckily, I returned home just as they were about to leave. Chris helped me put the cold stuff away, and we took off.
Caleb remembered the park from the last time we visited, and immediately jumped in the creek.
Luckily, we were able to convince Caleb to come out of the water so we could remove his shoes before they were soaked through.
Daisy was content to stare at the splashing water while I wore her in the Ergo.
Aside from an occasional kick of her feet when she was particularly happy about something, we didn't hear much out of her the whole time.
Chris and Caleb poked in the mud and found a tiny worm,
and Caleb spent plenty of time doing his favorite thing: throwing rocks.
Plunk!
I snapped this fun family photo, too! There were at least four other photographers at the park - some more professional than others. (Here I am alluding to the woman in the tent top and short-shorts with a DSLR in one hand and a cigarette in the other, shooting a family's portrait. Clearly she was a pro.)
Caleb and Chris had lots of fun throwing various-sized rocks into the pond.
And then it was time to go.
I had to include this picture, because it reminds me so much of this one, taken nearly two years ago. Caleb was not quite four months old in that photo.
But before we left, Caleb insisted on going down the slide. There were no steps up, so Chris lifted him up to the platform. Before Chris could even climb up there with him, our boy had situated himself and taken off!
This time, I had my camera ready!
He's a slider now: fearless, and so proud of himself!
Then, he insisted on riding in the tire swing, too!
Our little boy is fast outgrowing the toddler stage and becoming a full-fledged little boy. It's so exciting to watch!
Before we left, Chris joined Caleb in the tire swing. These two have so much fun together!
