October 12

Today was a fun, easy day.
Oh, except for the part where Daisy has a cold. That is neither fun nor easy; it hurts my heart to hear the poor girl struggle to breathe through the congestion, and to watch her nose run like a firehose. Poor kid.
But other than that, it was fun and easy.

We went for a run, then played outside for a while.
Daisy wore this sweet little outfit that one of my mom's co-workers found at a garage sale.
She was watching Caleb run around yelling, "Lightning McQueen wins the Piston Cup!"
Clearly, she thinks her brother is a little crazy.

Later, Caleb and I played in the back yard while Daisy slept. We poked around in the garden and discovered a mid-October treat: three ripe, luscious strawberries!

Caleb was pretty pleased with the garden's little surprise for us.

Later, our friend Jessica came over for dinner, and she brought cupcakes. But she didn't bring plain old boring cupcakes; she knew the key to Caleb's heart and brought Cardinals cupcakes. They had red and white icing and were topped with little baseballs that were actually rings. Caleb was so excited that he hugged Jessica - twice. When he finally got to eat his cupcake, he put the ring on his finger and said, "Albert Pujols gave you this!"
Albert Pujols, Jessica... same thing.

And now my nose is running. Maybe I'll have one more cupcake and go to bed.
