April 13

Today was lovely.
So lovely that when Caleb plowed through a bunch of schoolwork this morning, then asked to go to a park, I said yes.
He and Daisy chose a park near Chris' parents' house that Eli and Lily had never been to. Best of all, Chris' mom was able to meet us there!
Lily wore her new dress to the playground, with her Minnie Mouse shirt underneath.

Eli climbed this chain ladder, and Gayle gasped, "Can he do that?"
Chris did the same thing at the playground last night.
Yep! He can do it! Fourth children will do whatever it takes to keep up with their siblings!

Have I mentioned that Lily loves this dress? Because she loves it.

These two were making faces into a funhouse mirror and laughing together. It was so sweet.

Then the kids discovered a secret hideout under the boughs of the evergreen trees.

Barefoot Eli did his best to keep up!

Then he discovered the stone turtle, and it was his new favorite thing ever.

Brothers!

Caleb's protective hand on Eli's little shoulder kills me with its sweetness. He really is a very tender big brother.

The boys got down, and Lily climbed up on top of that turtle like she was a warrior princess. Gosh, she's cute.

Tire swing!

And Eli told Grandmother stories while she listened attentively.
It was a lovely way to spend a few hours!
