June 10

As we were unloading the kids from the car after church today, our neighbor Terry came across the street and asked, "Do you have a minute?" We always have a minute for Terry, especially because he usually has something interesting going on.

Today his "something interesting" was this:

Terry's great-niece, Hannah, just turned one. This little yellow hot rod was his birthday gift to her. However, to our great delight, Terry and Hannah's parents decided that it should live at Terry's house, for Hannah to use every time she visits. Terry thought it would be a shame for that shiny little car to sit unused in his house when our kids could be enjoying it, too.

Caleb was a big fan of that idea.

Though the car can be completely child-operated, it also has a remote control, making it perfect for younger ones like Caleb and Daisy - and Hannah, of course.

Daisy enjoyed the car for about thirty seconds. I think she needs to warm up to it a bit.

After the kids had naps, Chris took them up to our backyard pond to practice fishing. When I returned from running some errands, Chris and Caleb demonstrated their skills.
As Caleb watched excitedly,
(Please note that Daisy is smooshing her sweet little face up against a badminton racquet. How funny is that?)

Chris cast the line.

Then he handed the pole to Caleb,
who happily reeled it in.

Daisy was unimpressed. After all, the boys haven't caught any fish yet.

But something tells me that Caleb will be ready to try it on the water soon!
