October 7

I'm behind on blogging, but not on picture-taking. We've started our crazy new diet, and things are a little bit... unsettled... around here. I'm sure we'll get used to things soon.

But we said goodbye to our old ways with a spur-of-the-moment birthday dinner for my mom. It gave us a chance to celebrate one more time with her, and to get rid of all of the unapproved food in our home. Win/Win!
Grandma with her three grandsons. Daisy is just to the right of the frame, in her little chair.

I love this picture because Caleb is trying to help her blow out the candles, while Max stares in astonishment. It's pretty cute.

And then they're all surprised that the candles all went out!

Poor Daisy. She had no way of knowing this would be her last encounter with a cake of this kind for a long, long time.
But she enjoyed every last bit of it!

This boy asked for seconds and thirds of birthday cake. And yes, he's wearing the same tie-dyed shirt he wore two days ago. I washed it and put it away in his drawer. It's his new favorite, so he grabbed it right away!

    1. We're starting the GAPS diet; it's grain-free, with only certain carbohydrates allowed. Instead, it focuses on high-quality animal proteins and vegetables, as well as naturally fermented foods. Everything is home-made from scratch, with mostly organic ingredients. It's pretty extreme. The goal is to eliminate bad bacteria in the gut and replace it with good bacteria. We're hoping it will help Daisy gain weight and help Caleb's eczema. We'll see...
