January 15

Today's adventure was a trip to the Ice Carnival at the Delmar Loop. It probably would have been more fun if we had gotten there earlier (Caleb napped until 3:30, so we didn't get there until nearly 5:00), but we still had a good time.

Caleb was really excited by the ice sculptures, which surprised us. (That's a bokeh-ed out ice sculpture of a snowflake behind Chris)

A man was photographing one of the sculptures, so Chris stood back for a moment. Caleb would have none of it - he was shouting, "Touch! Touch! Touch!" He really wanted to get his hands on that ice sculpture!

To be fair, it was a pretty neat ice carving of a Chinese dragon. Caleb was very satisfied when he was finally able to touch it.

Caleb's favorite part, though, was the ice block slide. Do you see the delight on his face?

When Chris helped him go down on his own, he was thrilled! He shouted, "Whoa!" most of the way down the slide.

One storefront held a mock-up of the trolley line they hope to add to the loop, with a miniature trolley running on little tracks.

After all of that cold, you'd think we would want something warm to drink. Instead, we went to Fitz's for root beer floats and Bavarian pretzel sticks.

Caleb was a big fan of the root beer floats (he definitely says "ice cream" now), and an even bigger fan of the bottling line they have in the building. Despite the cold and the chaos, it was a fun outing!
