June 8

Another day, another swim practice - or two. Our team offers morning practices every weekday, and evening practices on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Since Daisy is still actively fighting swimming (current status is that she will only swim laps with a kickboard), I am making the kids go to both practices whenever possible. Caleb loves it, and Daisy needs as much exposure as possible to get her comfortable in the water.

After practice this morning, we went to the library and collected prizes for completing the first half of the summer reading program. Actually, Lily and Eli completely finished the little kids' reading program, and Caleb and Daisy are nearly finished with the big kids' one.
They each got to take home a book to keep, which was really exciting.
(Also, I have no explanation for Lily's outfit except that she did it to herself.)

Next we tried a park from our New Parks list. This one had a splash pad and was really close to home, so it was a success.

This is the current status of our back yard. It's pretty desolate, but at least I thought to put the umbrella there so that the kids could play in the sand box without baking.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings are also kickboard team practices, so they are Lily's favorite.
Swim team practice had started, but kickboard didn't start for another 30 minutes, so Lily practiced kicking on her own.

A rare moment of enthusiasm for Daisy, kickboard in hand.

This is a more common swim team face. But aren't her goggles hilarious? They have eyelashes. Thank you, Target dollar spot!

Eli likes to practice his swimming, too.

Daisy chatted with Coach. I'm sure Coach was trying (unsuccessfully) to convince Daisy to get in the water. See how Daisy is standing? It was really cool out this evening.

Lily, however, is a much more willing participant.

She had a giant grin on her face for most of the practice. Then she decided she was cold and quit for a bit. I suppose she spent too much energy playing before practice began!

I don't know what they were looking at, but aren't they handsome?

Practice was over. It was cold. Caleb was done.

Lily warmed up, perked up, and eventually joined her team to finish practice.

They always finish by singing the froggy song in a circle, then going underwater. Lily wasn't having it. Maybe next time.
