August 2

Today is our 15th wedding anniversary.
We had big anniversary plans - a hot air balloon ride, a day away... but Chris' hernia surgery meant that all of those needed to be postponed.

Instead, I agreed to babysit my friend's two-year old all day today and tomorrow.
The kids had so much fun with Winston, but I'm not going to lie: it was hard.

He and Eli were due about the same time, but Eli decided to come a few months early. Whatever.

Later, the mailman delivered something for Daisy:
She used birthday gift cards and money from her piggy bank to buy a horse for her doll, Anya.

She was so excited!

We walked to the neighborhood playground, too.
Eli's rosy cheeks give away how hot it was.

That and the sweaty hair.

And this happened. Sweetest thing ever!

Later, the flower man delivered these:
15 roses, a vase of daisies, and a vase of lilies. At first, I wondered why Chris ordered separate bouquets instead of a mixed arrangement. Then Lily woke up from her nap and I understood. She promptly claimed the bouquet of lilies as hers and carried them off to her room. Chris knew exactly what his little girl would want!

Winston's mom came to pick  him up, Chris came home from work, and my mom came over to watch the kids so Chris and I could go out.

We ate dinner on the patio of a great local restaurant. It was happy hour, and we were the only couple on the patio!
Just after we finished our meal and got to the car, storms rolled in. We out-drove them, and headed to a special spot to view the downtown skyline - and the storm rolling in.
After much debate, Chris and I raced to the middle of a 3-story viewing platform, snapped a selfie, and then raced back as the storm intensified.

We were sopping wet at our last stop, where we enjoyed boozy shakes as our second dessert. Happy fifteen years for us!
