And Snowmageddon actually arrived! We ended up with about 12" of snow today, along with some pretty blustery winds. Church was cancelled due to the snow, and everything was shut down, so we were allowed a day of guilt-free playtime. It was lovely.
Chris took the big kids out to play, and they were so excited!
I filled a squirt bottle with colored water and let Caleb write in the snow. He loved it!
Since Daisy only ever wants to eat the snow, I gave her a bucket and a spoon. Go for it, girl!
Chris thought to put Lily in her swing, facing out the window so that she could watch the activity. Surprisingly, she loved it! (Even when that creepy man knocked on her window and made goofy faces at her.)
Happy snow day, Lily!
It was so windy out that Caleb asked for his "wind catcher". It took me a while to realize that he was referring to these wind sock/fish flags that we got a the Japanese festival.
And then Daisy decided the wind was too much for her and came inside. The boys lasted about fifteen minutes longer, and they were done.
Caleb, Chris and Daisy were all enjoying hot cocoa on the couch when I noticed Lily was clearly feeling left out. She was reaching for Chris' mug and seemed to desperately want something to drink. I warmed up some breastmilk and put it in a sippy cup for her, and she was a happy girl!
Love it! They were all watching a Super Grover video on our new DVD player.
Once the kids were down for naps, Chris got a wild idea:
he wanted to run in the snow.
His major concern was what kind of shoes one wears when running in a foot of snow. Snowboots? Running shoes? Should he duct tape his running shoes to make them waterproof? I suggested he put a shopping bag over his socks and inside his shoes, and he agreed it was the best approach. Once he was thoroughly bundled, he took off!
Success! That's my man, returning from a 2.5 mile run in what might have been a blizzard.
This closer one is a bit fuzzy, but I like that you can see the snow crusted on his eyelashes. It was that kind of a run, and he returned feeling exhilarated!
After naps, the boys went back out to play. But Daisy? She was smart. She stayed inside where it was warm and cozy and practiced tracing her hand. Sweet girl!
