We didn't stay in our jammies all day today - I got dressed at a normal time, and Caleb and Daisy put clothes on after their naps. So at least there's that.
But it was Chris' first day back at work after spending almost two weeks home with us, so I was thankful for the three inches of snow that fell overnight and brought any thoughts of outings to a screeching halt. Instead, we hunkered down, wore our jammies, and played with blocks.
Chris and I gave the kids two sets of wooden blocks for Christmas, and his mom supplemented those with some fun, colorful blocks. We have everything we need now!
At first, I thought two sets of blocks was a bit excessive. Now that we've started building with them, I see that it's actually perfect!
But the best part about having so many blocks (and the Christmas tree put away)?
This:
After a few freak-outs when Daisy destroyed something, Caleb finally realized that's what happens when one plays blocks. Then they played peacefully for quite a while. The project was Caleb's vision; he has a book from the library about the superhero Thor, and it features a beautiful walled city called Asgard. Caleb decided we would build Asgard.
He's happiest when he's calling the shots.
I finally found some light in this dark house! I'm sure the thick blanket of snow on the ground helped things quite a bit.
Our architect, showing us his inspiration alongside the finished project. I think it's a pretty close resemblance!
Lily helped, in her own way. Chewing on blocks counts as helping, right?
Lily is also figuring out her bouncer now. What a big girl she is!
