Today was a great day on many fronts.
First, Caleb had his first real Play-doh experience today, thanks to a gift bag from Aunt Sally and Grandmother. He loved it. LOVED it.
He was excited to use the rolling pin, and completely focused on his work.
I showed him how to make worms/ropes with the Play-doh, and he thought that was particularly funny.
Another great thing? Our daughter. She is completely adorable. Not to brag or anything, really. It's just that when I saw this picture, my heart stopped a little bit.
Right?
We're pretty blessed that she's not only cute, but good-natured, too. Although Chris has already started fretting about teenaged boys and old men. He wants to teach her karate.
Serious Daisy.
(The flower was part of my crafty efforts yesterday. I'm pretty pleased with the results. Caleb is, too. He kept snatching the hairband and putting it on his head. Funny boy.)
Other blessings?
Our kids are not only cute and sweet, they adore each other. This is Daisy watching Caleb run around. I think he was dancing and jumping and making silly noises, just to entertain Daisy.
More greatness?
Daisy sat for the first time today! She's officially a sitter, and I couldn't be prouder. I'm especially appreciative, because we're having a real-life photographer take real family photos for us on Saturday. A girl who can sit on her own photographs so much better than a girl who needs to be held or propped or placed in an ugly blue Bumbo chair.
"What, this sitting thing? It's no big deal. I do it all the time."
One last good thing today?
Remember how we made an offer on a home on Saturday? Yesterday we learned that there was already an offer on it from someone else, and that the bank was currently in negotiations with the other party. We realized the likely end result would be:
A. The other party would accept the bank's offer and we'd lose the house.
or
B. The bank would ask us and the other party to submit best, final offers and we'd be in a bidding war. That would mean we'd probably end up paying more than we really wanted to pay.
We were frustrated - after all, we'd been looking at this house for two weeks. If we had known there was another interested party, we would have made our offer sooner! But we knew that we had to trust God.
It turned out the end result was neither A nor B, but C. The other party rejected the bank's offer, and is no longer in negotiations.
We're still in the game! The bank countered our offer today. Their counter is higher than we'd like, but after the scare of losing the house, I think we're willing to pay a little more. So. Nothing is certain, but things are heading in a generally positive direction. Let's keep praying that it all works out!
