OK, after a delay for napping, shower, and coffee, I'm ready to post about yesterday.
(A road-weary baby, happy to see his GREAT Aunt Mag and the balls she had ready for him to play with.)
Here is a numerical recap of our trip yesterday:
9.5 - hours spent making what Google said would be a 6 hour trip
10 - "Roadwork: Expect Delays" signs we saw, accompanied by delays
52 - miles Google forced us to drive on a 35 mph road in gridlock traffic
65 - total minutes Caleb napped. The whole day.
1 - major accident that occurred 8 cars in front of us. Chris got out to help the driver.2 - hours past bedtime Caleb stayed up
4 - times I had to nurse Caleb back to sleep in the night
1 - disposable diaper Caleb leaked through in the night, forcing me to change his jammies and then sleep in the wet spot so he didn't have toIt's been rough, friends.
Nancy is Caleb's step-great-grandma.
Caleb thought she was fantastic, even before she let him play on a real piano!
Nancy's birthday was Tuesday, and Caleb's is Friday, so Maggie thoughtfully arranged a birthday celebration for both of them.
(Full disclosure: Grandad and Nancy do live in St. Louis; we didn't have to drive all the way to Indiana to see them. But we did have to drive all the way to Indiana to have this awesome celebration.)
Up next?
Celebration, Part 2: Matt and Kelly's Graduation Party
Hopefully this time I'll get some photos of the people we drove to see!
