June 14

Today was apparently diaper-buying day. We headed to Target this morning to pick up some supplies for Baby Rainbow's impending arrival, and I ended up purchasing enough diapers to hopefully get us through the  too-small-for-cloth-diapers phase. And then, since we were right by the store where I like to buy my cloth diapers,we stopped in and bought 6 new cloth diapers, too. (We have a good stash of cloth diapers, but the ones from when Caleb was a baby - the ones that have seen daily use for the past 4 years - are just about kaput. But thanks to the lovely girls at my MOPS table this year, we had a gift card for some more. Funny how that works!)

Caleb and Daisy rocked the diaper-buying expedition, though. They might have been buoyed along by the fact that I purchased each of them a brand-new Frisbee at Target. (I'm sure you remember that Caleb's poor Frisbee has seen better days...) Once we were safely home, much Frisbee-tossing ensued.
Caleb's new Frisbee is star-shaped, and he love love LOVES it.

Even though it has an unusual shape, it still flies pretty well.

Daisy has no idea how to throw a Frisbee, but she's clearly delighted to have one of her own. Throughout the course of the day, she'd randomly say, "I have green Frisbee!"

After naps, the kiddos did some painting on the front porch.
They happily painted Father's Day pictures for Daddy, Grandad, and Grandpa.

Daisy was very meticulous with her painting.

Caleb... well, Caleb still hasn't reached the point with his art where it actually resembles anything. At one point, he decided that the blob in the bottom corner of his paper was a bird, but then he painted over it so much that it no longer resembled anything.

I'm sure that someday his pictures will look like something. Just not today.

I know this picture is blurry, but this is Caleb pretending to fly like Superman, and I love it.
I love that you can see how much he loves running, and being Superman, and being outside.

Chris came home (a little bit early! It was like Christmas!), and we ate a dinner that involved no fussing from the children at all. They happily ate their tortilla-less chicken fajitas with sauteed peppers and refried beans and guacamole, and Caleb even said, "I like this dinner! We should have it again! We can have it tomorrow night, and the next night, and the next night, and every night!"

That was all it took for Chris and I to look at each other and realize we were thinking the same thing:
ice cream.

Now, ice cream is not allowed on our diet. At least, traditional, store-bought ice cream isn't. But nights like tonight are few and far between, and in a few short weeks we won't have the luxury of hopping in the car for a quick ice cream excursion because we'll have a newborn to worry about. So we decided to break the rules and go get ice cream.

It was a great decision.

That would be Daisy sharing her ice cream with Caleb. She prefers strawberry ice cream, not because she likes the flavor, but because it is pink. I think she actually likes chocolate best, but it is not as pretty as strawberry. So she chooses pink.

Caleb, however, chooses chocolate.
He definitely enjoyed it.
